HQB's Friday Five ~ 5 Reasons Why I Love Target!

Due to the fact I live in a small town, we don't have a Target. Can you believe it? No Target!?! Ugh, I truly hate it! But anytime I find myself in Buffalo or Erie, you can be sure that a stop at Target is essential! I was in Erie, Pa this week and of course, we did a little shopping at Target! So, I figured for this week's HQB's Friday Five, I would address why I love this store so much! So, get ready, here are my 5 top reasons I love Target!

1. While I was living in Orlando, Florida, I worked at a Target for a while. If you have been following my blog for a while, you might recall my post about what position I had there. Let's just say, it's probably not what you're thinking...a cashier or something along those lines. Read that blog post HERE if you want to find out about my crazy Target job! But anyway, since I worked there, I know the "Target smell". I'm not sure if everyone else notices it, or it's just because I was there all the time...but every Target has the same smell. It's not a bad smell, and I can't really put my finger on it, it's more of an accumulation of scents I guess. But every time I walk through those doors, I have the same thought..."there's that Target smell"...and somehow it is comforting to me! It reminds me of a good time in my life. I was young, just newly married, living in Florida, and was happy <3

2. I LOVE their home décor! They must have an amazing team of interior designers because they have so many neat items! I used to love Pier 1, but they are so pricey that I could never afford anything from there. TJMaxx also has a really nice selection of home décor items too, but they are also a little pricey. Target has similar items but for less! Especially if you hit up their clearance racks, which brings me to my number three reason!

3. Target has amazing clearance! Often found on an end cap, there are always so many things marked down! Just look for those little red stickers! I can't tell you how many times I have gotten an item for 70 or 75% off the original price of something! Finding good deals like that gives me a high lol. The clearance tag itself can tell you a lot. If the price ends in $0.06 or $0.08, the item will get marked down even further. If it ends in $0.04 however, that is the best deal you are going to get! Also, looking at the top right corner of the clearance tag, you should see a number...30, 50, etc. That is the percent off you're getting! Now, I've heard that Target has a specific schedule on when they mark down items. Since I don't have one locally, I haven't been able to prove this to be true, but maybe y'all know better about this! None the less, here is what I was told...
Monday; kid's clothing, baby items, electronics, and stationary items
Tuesday; woman's clothing, domestics, pets, food
Wednesday; Men's clothing, toys, health and beauty, lawn and garden
Thursday; housewares, shoes, lingerie, music, movies, books, décor, luggage, sporting goods
Friday; auto, cosmetics, jewelry, and hardware

4. Target's Dollar Spot!! Oh heck yesss!! Found when you first walk in, there is a section of items that are $1-3. I always find cute and interesting things there! They change it frequently, so it's always something new to check out! I love starting off my Target adventure there! It sounds silly, but it gets me in the shopping mood!!

5. The overall shopping experience is just so much better at Target, than at let's say, Wal-Mart..or KMart. It's cleaner, nicer items, better styles, nicer employees...I could go on and on! My son loves going to Target too, but is never really excited about a trip to Wal-Mart. He always loves to look at their toys, which they do have an amazing selection! They have this kitty piano that my son has been obsessed with since he was like 2 years old lol. Every time we're in Target, he has to play with it! During our last trip, Xander found a huge Ninja Turtle that he thought was cool. I also thought it was cute that they had a place to take selfies! Equipped with a hashtag sign and that white dog that has been a part of their logo for years. Of course, my son and I took advantage of the selfie spot, haha! Ahhh, Target just knows how to make their shoppers happy!

  2. I love target!!! I am so sad that the closest one is over 1.5 hours away. But....no actually that's probably a good thing. My wife and I are trying to pay off debt and live on a budget... that might be impossible if target was closer. lol! Anyway, thanks for sharing!

    1. haha yeah I agree! My closest Target is about 45 minutes away. I'm good though, I don't buy stuff if I can't afford it. I learned to do that the hard way lol...it's not easy though when it comes to Target stuff!

  19. Hey – great blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a really nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my blogs but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?

    1. Hey, thanks for stopping by! I started off using weebly, then moved to wordpress, and finally hopped over to using blogger, which obviously is where I have committed to. I wasn't happy with the other two, even though they come highly recommended by some. Blogger is really easy to use and it is already connected to so many things like google plus and google adsense. I've been using it for about 4 months now and I am really happy with it, so this is where I plan to stay until I outgrow and have to take the self-hosted route. Best wishes to you!
