HQB's Friday Five!

Happy Friday y'all! So, I am going to try and make this a Friday thing...five random whatevers I wanna talk about, list, mention, give credit or shout outs to! If there is anything specific you want me to cover in an upcoming "HQB's Friday Five", leave your suggestion in the comments area below! Ok, so for my first Friday Five...total randomness! Cuz sometimes that is just the most fun! Ready?!?

1) I love my dog! Yup, that is a light and fluffy way to start off my Friday Five! (Coincidently, so is my dog!) He is so cute, sweet, loving, and has a huge personality smushed into that little five pound body! I named him Mr. Foxy Bobo! I had the hardest time giving him a name! I had him for nearly a week before I finally found one I fell in love with! There is a story behind it too...I was giving my son a bath, and my new little doggie wouldn't leave me alone. He had on a collar with a big red sparkly bow, so I said, "go away Mr. Bow Bow!" ....I looked at my son with my eyes opened wide, and said, "that's it! Mr. Bobo!" And so if he was going to have an official name, with the mister and all, he needed a first name too! Well, he looks like a little fox on the face, so, that is how Mr. Foxy Bobo came to be! I have had him for nearly two years already and he is such a perfect fit into our family! I had never had a Pomeranian before, but because of this wonderful little guy, they have quickly become one of my favorite breeds!

2) Periscope? Heard of it? It seems to be the new thing, especially among bloggers! Well, I tried to get this app on my smart phone, but I guess my smart phone is not quite smart enough! It won't work on my phone! I searched YouTube for an answer to the error message I was getting, and followed their suggestions of updating the version of my phone. Well, apparently it had no new updating to do, so I just can't be one of the cool kids and Periscope! Boo-hoo! Looks like I need a phone upgrade... yeah yeah...eventually. Alright, well when I do upgrade, what is a good phone to get? I'm not all into iPhones, I'd rather stick with LG or HTC. (I have AT&T as a provider btw, but w/o a contract so I could change if needed I suppose) But for now, I guess I'm just the lame-O who won't Periscope!

3) It's almost Fall. This week in Western New York, it definitely still feels like summer! We have had several days in the 80's and 90's...but we all know it will start cooling off soon enough. So, get out the hoodies! (That is actually one part of chilly weather I like...gotta love hoodies!) Around here, we have a lot going on in the fall for kids and families. The Apple Festival, Pumpkin Fest and Fall Fest, just to name a few. We might have to check them out! :)
playing in the leaves...yes, this will be happening soon...

4) I can't get enough of this song...Shut Up and Dance, by Walk the Moon. It is sort of a cheesy song, reminds me of something from the 80's (even the video screams 80's!) but I just love it! There may or may not be an additional reason this song is so appealing to me...but uh yeah, we'll leave that for another time! <3 GJS. But here, take a listen and see if you enjoy it!?!

5) Reading with my son is so enjoyable! Last year, while in Kindergarten, his teacher read several books to the class from the Junie B. Jones collection, by Barbara Park. My son really took a liking to this series! They are pretty silly and written from the view of the young girl...she doesn't always use proper grammar, as many kids do, and my son loves to correct her each time. Anyway, when those Scholastic Book order forms were sent home and had the whole series bundle for sale, I got it for him and I to read at home. It is usually our before bedtime read, and it is especially fun now that my son can read himself! We like to share, he reads a paragraph, then I will. What a simple pleasure to share with a child! Don't forget to read to your kids, and when they are old enough, allow them to read to you!
This is one of our favorite "Junie B." books!

Thanks for reading this Friday's Five! Until next time!...

  8. We're walking similar paths here! I'm hearing all about Periscope too and I'm like, please let me get this blogging thing down first! We too listen to Shut Up, and Dance. It's catchy and I have a seven-year old who prefers to listen to her favorite songs on repeat. Speaking of her, we often read books together too. Junie B. Jones is a good one. We also have several "Boxcar Children" and a series we liked called "Cottonmouth."
